Welcome to the SSLC Web Site!

Dear Friends:

Cohasset Consignment ShopAs we enter our 97th year the national economic crisis continues to impact government jobs, state and municipal budgets and the general public. Dozens of social service programs and assistance for families, the elderly and teens at risk continue to see shortfalls in their budgets and at the same time, have an increased demand for their services. Unemployment and affordable healthcare have caused many families on the South Shore to seek help. Many have turned to the Social Service League of Cohasset. Thanks to your generous support we have been able to provide immediate relief by providing such things as food gift cards and utility bill assistance.

In response to the continued crisis, we have increased our funding to Wellspring of Hull. The largest growing population and the most effected this year have been the elderly, prompting The Social Service League to develop and fund an Elder Care Program with Wellspring that supports Seniors from Cohasset, Hull, Hingham, Scituate, and Norwell with vital services. In September the League launched the Mary Hooper Elder Pet Care (HELP) Program providing assistance to qualified individuals so that they may keep and properly care for their beloved pets. We also continue to enjoy a wonderful and productive relationship with Cohasset Elder Affairs as they struggle to find a new home to serve the needs of Cohasset’s increasing senior
population and look forward to providing financial support for their new facility.

The Cohasset Consignment Shop, which has been owned and operated by the Social Service League for 56 years, continues to thrive. We take pride in offering affordable quality goods to our customers, especially during this economic crisis. While the proceeds from our shop directly support the League’s initiatives, our main source of support has always been the generous donations of people like you who appreciate the League’s many valuable contributions to the least well off among us. I understand that many of us now face financial challenges in our own lives, but in this time of difficulty your support is needed more than ever. Please help us make a difference in the lives of those in need on the South Shore by making a contribution to the League.

With thanks,
